Exploring the wildlife, water ways and other fun in Cape Coral

My best friend from high school travels to Florida from Philly every year to visit her mom who lives there for part of the year. This year I decided to join her for some much needed beach time! She also brought her two boys who are 2 and 6 so we utilized the pool at the house when we didn't have time to head to the beach at Sanibel Island.

Cape Coral is located next to Fort Meyers, about a 30 mile drive from the airport. There are around 200 canals. Some houses have access to canals that go into the river, so those houses have docks and boats. Becky's mom stays at a house on a canal that it pretty shallow and there are no boats. Because of this, there is plenty of wildlife around, especially birds.

Less than a 10 minute drive is Cape Harbour, where there is plenty of dining and shops right on the water. We went there for dinner and shopping on our last night.
