Day Four
From Aloha Honolulu - First time to Oahu in Waimea, United States on Mar 03 '09
Rain all day!! We were psyched to hike and beach today - but instead had another relaxing day of driving and stopping and driving some more and stopping some more and eating and driving and stopping and eating some more. We went exploring and found the coolest most private beach access where there was noone - and don't belive would really ever be anyone there - so that was neat. We drove into the BYU Campus and saw the huge mormon temple - beautiful campus!! I was thinking I'd convert!! Then we were driving and found a part of beach that was rocky with huge pools of water formed in the middle of all the lava rocks so we saw cool fish and weird orange/yellow squid like crab things and turtles. We drove and imagined ourselves running a B&B in the million dollar cliff side ocean front homes, and talked all about a new approach to Hawaiian Tourism. Ideas!!
It was wonderful to be driven, so that was a treat for me. And it was nice for both of us to have no schedule, no being "late", no rushing and no where needed!!
Food update: We had mexican for lunch (don't ask) then shaved ice for snack, then I had to make a bathroom break which is typically the only reason I'll go to a Mc. Donalds - but they had a BANANNA PIE - you know instead of the traditional Apple Pie... So We had to get one. Totally yummy hot bananna gooeyness!! Sweet Potatoe and Shoyu Chicken Manapua with noodles for lunch, then salt seeds and miso cokies for snack, then back to the Lychee vodka with Lilikoi juice for pre dinner!! My tummy was screaming at me!!
We checked into the hotel that Jerome surprised me with for my birthday. We are at the Sheraton Wikiki. Oh my VIEW!! We are on the 24th floor out of 30 with nearly 180 degree view of the ocean. We hear the waves from our balcony and can see for miles. We saw HUGE turtles swimming. It's really wonderful! He did a great job!! Wikiki is very "downtown" like any other big city with tourist shopping and tourist food. But it's nice to be able to walk to everything and walk home. We had tourist food for dinner - I suppose I can take one night off and have Jerome pick a meal :) We walked and People watched and took pictures with Hello Kitty and saw the street vendors and the religious right and the Hawaiian dancers, the "freaks" and the homeless and everyone in between. It was a great night.
