OK - time to go.  If you know me, you know I consider the journey to be part of the trip.  And my itinerary was Denver-Chicago-Hong Kong-Singapore-Phnom Penh.

It was about 36 hours from Denver to Phnom Penh, including six hours in the transit hotel in Singapore.  That's a lot, but I had the advantage of flying in business class, which made it a lot more palatable.  Sleeping and relaxing are a lot easier with more space and amenities.  But it was still a bit numbing.

My flight to Chicago left at "Six O'Dark"

First up was DEN-ORD, leaving at "Six O'Dark."  I was worried that my arrival in Singapore (on United) would be delayed, causing me to miss my connection (on a separate ticket) to Phnom Penh.  But it worked out - in fact, all of the eight flights I took were on time or early.

I must have cashed in a lot of "travel karma" points on this trip - no disasters (speaking as someone who has left a passport in a taxi - it's not fun).

Chicago was beautiful from the air - 11 degrees and snowy white from the night before.  We overflew O'Hare and then circled around near downtown before landing, yielding some nice sightseeing for the airplane geek in me.

I hung out in the Red Carpet Club (the nice, new one downstairs in the B concourse) until my flight to Hong Kong.  I had some green tea - a nice break for my stomach during a marathon of airline food.
