Great wine country and fantastic B&B experience in Central Coast
From In the Central Coast of California - Wine Country in Arroyo Grande, United States on Feb 19 '09
My wife and I really enjoyed our travels in California this February. The highlight of our trip was visiting the Central Coast of California near Arroyo Grande, San Louis Obispo and Pismo Beach area. Lots of great things to see and do. We stayed at a fantastic B&B just outside of Arroyo Grande called The Casitas of Arroyo Grande. Boy, was this a great find.
TheCasitas proved to be such a great place to stay that we really had to push ourselves to leave it each day to visit the many vineyards, Pismo Beach and the cute little towns, Farmers Markets, etc. We also enjoyed visiting some of the antique shops in the area and even went horseback riding on the beach, etc. What a nice place to visit. My wife and I started talking about how nice it would be to live in such a beautiful area year-round.
Central Coast of California wine country and B&B experience. "Wow"!!
Our hosts at the Casitas of Arroyo Grande were Pat and Tony and they really made us feel welcome and tended to our every need. The gourmet breakfasts were all out of this world. We enjoyed every one of these culinary delights. Tony and Pat also pointed us to some of the best restaurants in the area for dinner, wineries and other nearby attractions. We really enjoyed spending time with them in the great room of the main hacienda after our day trips to share some of our travel experiences and make some plans for the following day.
They just opened this luxurious B&B last year and it is a fantastic place to visit. You are nestled on a hillside several miles outside the city of Arroyo Grande and you can look from your windows or your own private patio out over the valley and see some of the nearby vineyards. On their property there are great walkways with beautiful flowers and plants. In the morning hours, while enjoying the fantastic breakfast, that we had served on our patio, we were able to observe some of the wildlife in the area. One morning we saw some deer grazing nearby, on a couple of days there were some horses on the adjacent property that we watched and we were constantly watching all the birds in the area. We saw hawks, bluebirds, humming birds and a wide variety of others. Unfortunately, the swallows, which we are told are plentiful in the summer months, had not yet returned to The Casitas. We will have to plan another trip back to see them. We did not actually see the owls but we sure did hear them.
The Casitas are all very nicely decorated and they have every convenience you could want. You are torn between staying in your own Casita with the warm fireplace, luxurious king sized bed, large screen TV and Bose Stereo system or enjoying the beautiful outside. We compromised and tried to do it all. Unfortunately we could not spend another day or two at The Casitas as we were heading North to San Francisco but hope to return there on our next trip to California.
