Because we had such a great time last night, I agreed to go out with Chico today. When I met him in town, he had procurred two bicycles for us. We rode to Punta Jesus Maria (Jesus Maria Point) where it seems that most of Moyogalpa hangs out on Sundays. The point stretches thinly into Lake Nicaragua. In the dry season there is a land bridge connecting to small Devil's Island, which you can walk across. Chico and I climbed the tree hanging over the edge of the submerged land bridge and watched all the children jump from the tops of the surrounding trees. Most of the people I had previously met in town were there. It was a relaxing day people-watching and hanging with the islanders. Near sunset Chico and I started back to town on our bicycles. With a moment's notice we were caught in a downpour. The wind was blowing so hard that it was nearly impossible to move forward on my bicycle! Along with a couple of other drenched riders, we stopped at the porch of Chico's friend, an old man with nearly zero teeth. He is such a character with a sense of humor that made me the butt of his jokes. It was especially funny, because I could not understand his toothless Spanish. After some uncomfortable moments and a few unidentifiable fruits, the rain stopped and we were on our way home. Chico was a gentleman all day. I enjoyed his kisses, even though he was not as cute as I remembered him to be when I had my beer goggles on before.
