When you read the statistic that something like 30 to 40 percent of Argentines live in Buenos Aires it seems a bit hard to believe. Then you hop on a bus to the northern stretch of Patagonia and it sinks in.

This place is desolate.  I'm talking desolate like a Tuesday matinee showing of the Love Guru at Billy Joes Pitcher Show.  And it goes on for incomprehensible stretches of rolling mountains broken up with gigantic glacial lakes.

The bus ride was longgg..  I have been on some long ones on this trip, sure.  But it is a little bit more bearable if the driver is at least cookin´up some hot grease* on the interstate.  But this driver was going slow; it was like he was concerned about the safety of himself, his passengers and other people on the road.  Pretty odd.

*I am not sure where that metaphor came from.
