Most of the time,  we are pretty conservative when we choose dates to travel.  Because we are able to fly non-rev,  we try to fly during times when everyone else either chooses to stay in bed,  or stay home.

But from some nudging from our daughter,  we decided to venture out in the hustle and bustle of the Thanksgiving weekend.  We flew from Chicago Midway into Dulles Airport in Washington, DC.

Our son in law picked us up  from our evening arrival.   We were fortunate enough to be able to stop and have a great dinner at the Outback Steakhouse.

The next day our daughter arrived home from working on the Thanksgiving holiday. So we began all the dinner preperations on Thursday,  for the next day.   We enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving dinner courteousy of SafeWay.   With plenty of leftovers to boot.

We had a relaxing weekend amidst the company of their two Boston Terriers,  Zack and Maggie.   If only they could lend us some of their energy.

Upon completion of the weekend,  we had selected an early morning departure from Baltimore airport.  The loads on the plane had shown that there would be 7-10 vacant seats on this particular flight.   Little did we know that there would be more than just my wife and I,  vying for those seats.

Just prior to the flight beginning to load,  we heard that announcement that the flight was overbooked.  And that they were seeking volunteers to give up their seats.  Not very good news for someone that is looking for an empty seat.    So we had to move on to Plan B.   Only problem was,  that every flight leaving Baltimore that day was going to be full.  Not exactly the kind of problem to have for a guy that has to be back to work the next day.

So it was decided that we would try and get as close to Chicago as we possibly could.  So we booked for a flight to Detroit, MI.   We figured that there would be alot of flights going from Detroit to Chicago.  We were right.   We made a quick turnaround in Detroit and then got onboard a flight to Chicago.   After we reached Chicago and got on board the bus that would take us back towards our destination,  did we find out that shortly after we arrived,  they began cancelling flights.  Apparently the weather had taken a turn for the worse.

Luckily for us,  we were already headed for home.

Another awesome trip to the Nation's capitol to visit our family.   Thanks so much for entertaining us.
