Don't let your boyfriend use your bank card in Singapore...I take that back now

Jodie and Nichola has visited no places in Singapore

Singapore has THE SWANKIEST immigration border crossing thing that we've come across.  Twas easy as pie...no-one looked at us like we were smelly or terrorists which is always a good thing.  So now we're in Singapore...staying in the red light district which we have to say is pretty damn ok!  The hostel (98SG) is clean, cheap and secure.  And we think the same about the prostitutes hahaha.  That was a really crap joke and I would like to apologise...it wasn't Jodie's fault, it was mine.  But yeah, in terms of prostitutes (this is from OBSERVATION, not experience I hasten to add) they're much prettier in Singapore than they are in Scotland.  The only thing about the hostel is some of the other travellers really CANNOT sing, but they insist on doing so 'til 4 in the morning on the street outside.  Loudly.  Not good, but quite funny so it's ok somehow.

I digress!  Anyhoo, we ate tasty Chinese vegetarian fare with weird fake meat, we've had no hassles using the public transport here as EVERYTHING is in English anyway.  Reminds us quite a bit of the intercity in Japan, the obvious difference being we actually know where we are and where we're going thanks to the lack of symbolage.  There are lots of threatening signs everywhere saying no spitting, no littering or pay $2000, etcetcetc.  Luckily we've yet to encounter any run-ins with the law here, and hopefully it'll stay that way.

Do not SH*T on the floor

And it's not as hot/humid as we were expecting it to be which is GOOD.  Jodie broke the shower in the hostel and ended up with a comedy fountain of water spraying in his face...he had a towel so didn't need to run around the hostel naked.  And there's a funny typo in the hostel...amongst it's many rules is "Do not SH*T on the floor".  This is meant to say SPIT, but the typo makes it better.  We hope it never changes!  We've done lots of window shopping, we've spent a good hour in borders reading their magazines...so was everyone else as it happens; folk sitting on the floor, against the shelves...anywhere they could find a seat.  Today we also checked out the Singapore Philatelic Musuem as there was a comic book exhibition on.  We were dismayed to learn that Philatelic means stamp collector, which means we tripled our geek-ness just by entering the building.  They did have a penny black though.  Maybe that's quite cool, I don't know.  But I am POSITIVE that I will never step foot in another stamp museum unless there is a truly worthy exhibition.  And the comic exhibition was worth it so we're all good.

So, two more nights in Singapore for us...two more nights of clean beds, no diarrhoea and no cows on the street...no idea what to expect other than the unexpected when it comes to India!  Hopefully it won't be too much of a shock to the system!

Love to all! XXX

Re: the bank card thing, Jodie put the wrong pin in and it's now blocked for 24 hours hahahaha!  Could've been worse though, the bank could've blocked it due to possible fraudlulent use abroad, or the machine could've eaten it.  So all's well!

Re: the taking it back re: the bank card thing, I managed to do exactly the same thing the following day.

PS Jodie bought a bass pod xt at a super cheapo price in City Music, Singapore.  Chinese New Year's an amazing time to hit places with large Chinese populations as it means genius sales...ooh yeah!
