We left Pocatello around 9:30AM. Drove to McCammon, Idaho where we topped off our gas – paid $4.45 per gallon. From McCammon we headed to Jackson Hole through Monticello. It was absolutely beautiful the whole way and fairly easy driving for Mike. Stopped in Jackson Hole to wander around and eat. We were planning on staying there at a campground but decided to go into Teton Park. Got a lovely site at Gros Ventre Campground which is a National Park Campground located along the Gros Ventre River. Since it is inside the park we got a rate of $9.00 per night. If course we don’t have hook ups but no problem for a couple of days. I’m sitting here writing this while looking out at the magnificent Tetons. This has to be one of the most majestic places on earth. When we arrived it was hailing but now it is beautiful. We attended to a Ranger Campfire Program tonight about Wolves and Grizzly’s. Slept like a dream.

After a wonderful breakfast we headed out to visit the Tetons. Drove to the Gros Ventre slide area. This was the biggest slide of earth to ever occur in the world. In 1927 a huge portion of the mountain slid down on the Gros Ventre River and changed the landscape forever. From there we drove down the Snake River to Jackson Lake Lodge where we stopped to stroll along the lake and view the magnificent mountains. Drove to the top of Signal Mountain where there is a panoramic view of the Snake River as it winds through the park. Had a wonderful lunch at Moose, Wyoming where we sat on a deck overlooking the Tetons. We finished up our meal with a Moose Munch ice cream cone. Yum!!! Drove back into Jackson and at the Visitor Center we attended a talk about Sacajawea and the Lewis & Clark Expedition. What a fascinating tale. Came home, played cards and are headed to another Ranger Campfire Program tonight at 9PM. When we run our generator we can pick up some of the Olympic coverage. Tomorrow we head to Yellowstone and have reserved a campsite at Fishing Bridge with full hookups
