We had an interesting time in the markets in Aleppo over our backgammon pieces. We had been told that if they were real camel bone they wouldn’t burn, so we waved them over a lighter and they melted. All steamed up Ainslee, Foz, Marc and I stormed off back to the shop in the markets. After a long conversation in broken English we managed to work out they were actually bone and it was the glue that melts not the bone. Oh well the burnt pieces were replaced. After the markets we went for a wander with Jeff, Yolanda and Ian trying to find the Christian quarter. We met a local Christian he took us on a wee tour of the area; the highlight was the ice factory where Jeff got a big slab of ice for our chilly bins. He also gave us a wee peek inside one of the local boy’s houses.
