My brother, David, wife Kim, and kids Mitani, and Emi posing in the museum district. Where is Ichiro? I forget. He was camera shy and that is why there are few pics of him.

Had a great time in Amsterdam. Met my sister-in-law and nieces and nephew, and toured much of the old city. Although I was lost most of the time, if you know where you are going then the city is very accessible. Lots of public transportation and you can get anywhere by bike. I did a lot of walking and rented a bike for a couple of days. Unfortunately, the most rainy and wet days of my entire trip. But it was still great to be able to cover so much territory and not have to worry about getting run over. Bikes are king in Amsterdam, unlike in San Francisco or Boston (especially Boston) where you would be risking your life.

English is spoken as well as, if not better, than in the US. In fact, most people seem to know at least two and more likely three languages. There is a great diversity in the city that makes for a rich cultural life. I can see why my brother has lived here for so long. For a San Francisco native, it would not be a difficult transition to make. It is a physically beautiful city and I'd love to come back some day.

Great city!
