Today we realize that it is almost our last stop the Kimberlys and Derby. On our way we stop at Tunnel Creek. We really have to search for the entrance, but when we finally find it you get into a cave where there is a little bit of light.Walk on and you have to go through a little bit of water (we did not know that before).

After thinking for a long time (and watch other people do it) we take off our socks and wade through the water with a flashlight. After a while you get to a sandbank. On the way to it you can smell the bats! The tunnel is 750 meters long and you can imagine walking underneath a rock. Imagine un the way it is just as if everything is touching your legs and you can not see anything.

When you get outside at the other end of the tunnel walk a little bit up on the right side and have a look at the rocks and you will find some aboriginal paintings. When we walk to the opposite side of the water we hear people tell they saw a fresh water crocodile in the cave. O.. my... god... I am not going back in without hanging on to Eric very closely. There is no other way out, so we have to get back the same we we got here!!! Fortunately we did not see any crocodile. Pfffff

We move on to Windjana gorge. Walk through an opening in a rock and then you get to a river. 380 million years ago this was the bottom of the ocean. In some rocks you can still see it.

When we have a look at the river you see more and more fresh water crocodiles. We are happy we know this is not the most dangerous kind of crocodile. You can get to them up to 2 meters. Nothing happens as long as you do not bother them or tease them. You can walk the whole ravine, but that is not to be adviced with (yes again) 39 degrees Celcius (and it is a long long way to go). So we decide to stay and film and take pictures.

When we are ready we get back to the car and drive (yes 4WD track) to Derby. This is a nice route to take!!!

In Derby we check into the King Sound Resort hotel. Nothing special, a bit old fashioned. A tv without a remote controle (?!) and the screen is mostly green. If the food here is as old as the tv, well.. we have to get dinner somewhere else and we decide to eat at the Wharf Restaurant. The restaurant overlooks the bay and when you drive here be sure not to miss the sunset! We had a combination of rain, dark clouds and sun, really really special. You can see the restaurant from the sunset place. Eric chooses the chicken curry and Danielle chooses the Baramundi (grilled). It is really delicious. Back to the hotel and of to Broome tomorrow.
