Miami, Miami, you've got style!
From Looking for America in Miami, United States on Jun 30 '06
We thought it would be an adventure to cross the infamous "Alligator Alley" to make our way over to Miami. It's a 50-mile stretch of highway NOTHINGNESS, with alligator swamps on either side. No gas stations. No shops. No fast food places. So of course, that's where we got our first flat tire. But, being the heroic husband that he is, Ben pulled over and changed it, easy as pie! And, being the wonderful wife that I am, I stood on look-out for alligators. (Don't worry...we got it all on video. And no, not a single alligator in sight.) We hopped back in the car to complete our journey across the treacherous highway, laughing in the face of danger...when we got stuck in the world's worst traffic jam. It took us over three hours to get across 50 miles. All on a spare tire and a decreasing tank of gas. Talk about death defying! ;)
Needless to say, it was a trying day, but we survived with flying colors.
Now it is definitely time for bed. Tomorrow is another day!
