We arrived in Moscow early in the morning on the overnight train from St Petersburg.  Determined to make the most of our one day there we headed across the city to pick up our tickets for the Trans-Mongolian train, lodged our bags in the left luggage at the station we were leaving from that evening and headed out to see the sights.

The Red Square was impressive, even if disappointingly there was no military parade, Lennin's tomb and the Kremlin looked fascinating from the outside, but we went for pizza and beer before heading in.

Disaster.  I don't know what they put in Russian pizza, but it broke off a large chunk of one of my teeth with the first bite.  Terrified of spending six days on the train with a dodgy tooth and then having to find a Mongolian dentist we phoned the private hospital advertising on the back of the Meridians street map of Moscow someone had given us.  Luckily they had an appointment for that afternoon.

I managed to talk the dentist out of root canal surgery on the grounds that I was getting on the train in three hours and managed to persuade to do something less invasive if less permanent and (touch wood) she did a good job.  We just had time to drink a few beers in the VIP waiting room at the station (1st class tickets are great!) before climbing aboard the Trans-Mongolian train.

And so yet again we managed to find a way to get to see a slightly different, more medically orientated view of a city.  Lets hope that the tour of emergency health centres stops here.
