We arrived in Montreal after 2 good flights. Boy was it warm!!!!! Never thought it would be so humid. Seemingly they were having a heatwave-geeez you dont say!!! We found our wee hostel which was right downtown in old Montreal.Great location on the cobblestoned streets and our room had big shutters that opened onto the main street. Unfortunately i hadnt booked an aircon room as hadnt planned for it to be so humid so we spent a sweaty 4 days in Montreal!!!
We met up with my friend Fiona who was over visiting from Victoria. I had persuaded her to come to the track one day with us. Was great seeing her and catching up. Montreal was buzzing with F1 fever. Great atmosphere.Lots of colourful flags hanging form the bars and restaurants.
I MET DAVID COULTHARD!!!

We spent our 1st day in Montreal at the track. Was a bit of a trek to our grandstand at the 1st corner but was well worth it. I cant believe how many people turned up for practice day! Never seen anything like it,practically afull house!!! We caught some of the action and wandered around to different vantage points. We managed to sneak into the main pit straight grandstand when security wasnt looking hehe! Was fab seeing all the action going on in the pits. The noise of the F1 cars revving their engines is unreal and makes your hairs stand on end!! there were a few spins that day as the track was damp from a rain shower so was fun watching the driver slip and slide around. Don't worry noone was injured just a few mangled cars! met my pal Stuart from england at the track too.He was on a tour so good catchin up with him.

Decided to walk back from the track to downtown. Good idea at the time to avoid the crowds at the underground(the track is on an island the only way in is by underground or by car). Not such a good idea 90mins later when we still were not back !! we were so drained from the heat and all the days walking!!The city loosk so close but there is onyl 2 bridges and you have to take the long way round to get back!!!! Note to self do not attempt to walk again!!
found a supermarket to stock up on food for the next few days asit's expensive at the track! We then Met Stuart anf Fiona that night for some cool beers. Good start to our holiday.

June 7th-Qualifying Day
Another sweltering hot day and another day at the track. Didnt sleep well with the heat and noise from the clubs but the excitement of going to qualifying kept us going! dragged Fiona along with us and we all slapped on our suncream only for it to slide right off-nice eh!!!!
Quali was good but not the result i wanted for Webber+Dc boo hoo 10th and 13th We watched the BMW support race. Bit of excitement when one car landed intop of another at our corner! luckily they were both ok! Good day at the track again and then the mammoth fight to get on the underground at the end of the day!
Met fiona again that night for dinner and drinks. She treated us for my birthday aww how sweet.
June 8th- Race day + My birthday!
Up bright and early once again. We got all our F1 kit on.We both were wearign our kilts and redbull gear. Maybe not such a good idea in this heat but what the heck!! We headed off real early to the track to try beat the crowds but seemed they were as keen as us to get there!! Wasnt oo bad and we were in our seats by 10am. We wauted eagerly for the drivers parade. i get so exicted as you ge to see the drivers close up and wave at them. Stevie and i had our big 6ft banner so we were all set to go bananas! Webber wasnt looking to happy but when he saw us and our banner he gave us a smile and a wave and Dc did the same! I was jumping up and down like a loonie as always-great fun! Our banner drew alot of attention and a few people asked to take a picture of us with it. we were then treated to an airshow by the Canadian Snwobirds-not quite as good as the Red Arrows but mighty impressive all ther same. There even was a woman pilot!

The race got off to a great start no incidents at the 1st corner for a change! It was the best race for a long time, non stop action! The craziest thing happnened when Hamilton and rosberg crashed into 2 stationary cars in the pits! never seen that happen before! Shame for Hamilton but great for me as it meant Webber and Dc moved up some places. I was on the edge of my seat the whole race as Dc kept picking up the places tho Webber was losing them! When Dc was in 4th place i though surely he wont get a podium but he did and i was just so blinking happy i couldnt believe it! It was even better no ferraris in the top 3 either and 2 BMW drivers. Kubica got his 1st ever win so was happy for him too. The minute the cars crossed the line and got the chequered flagi told Stevie to "MOVE IT!" so we could get on the track! I pushed him down the stairs then i made a run for the track with my Saltire flag following. We made it to the podium in time to seen the drivers appear! Bloody great! been to 10 races and this one has defo been the best. Was great waving my flag at Dc on the podium, He spotted the flag and waved-nice one. There as such a fantastic atmosphere at the podium and everyone kept comign up to us in our kilts and shoutign nice one DC! Was ace. Afte the podium we walked along the pits and took some piccies in the garages. We stopped by the redbull pit and low and behold the ITV F1 crew were there filming ! i shouted out at Steve Ryder but he just ignored me(how rude!) i then shouted at mark Blundell and he noticed me and gave me a wave and a smile-cool !I could see the team were all coming otu to have their picture taken as Dcs trophy was there so i though surely Dc would come out too. A few minutes later the man himself appeared!!!! Poor Stevie was ignored for the next 10mins !!I was rigth at the front and got a great view of Dc and the team. Dc was celebrating with the champers. we shouted at him to come over and he did! I couldnt believe my luck again. !st he gets a podium then i get to meet him! I told him it was my birthday and thanks for the podium. He said "Happy Birthday and where is the party!" i was too gobsmacked to talk haha!!!! What a TOTALLY AMAZING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After i had calmed down slightly we walked the rest of the tarck and chatted with some fellow fans. The hairpin was well torn up. No wonder drivers were sldiing off down there!
