Jesus Juice!
From Discovering South America! in Mendoza, Argentina on Oct 21 '07
So, you think Mendoza and you think wine country....but there is much more to this beautiful city than Jesus juice! Here you will find wide sidewalks, clean streets, large and numerous plazas (that form the pattern on a ¨5¨ when you roll the dice), and a gigantic park (Parque General San Martin with 50,000 trees of 750 species and covers 420 hectares)! You also have access to the highest peak in South America at the Parque Nacional Aconcagua (6,960m).
Mendoza sits to the far west of the country, surrounded by arid plains to the east and the Cordillera de los Andes to the west. Major reasons Mendoza is the main grape producing province are that the area is very sunny and dry which favors the color of the grapes and the relative humidity is low but also relatively cool. Most vineyards are at altitudes above 2,800 feet. The grapes grow in very beneficial conditions with little rot and few insects or diseases and can attain complex flavors thanks to a long growing season.

Here we made a few new friends...Jonni (a solo traveler from Denmark) who we met on our long bus ride from Salta....Ange and Bill from Ventura California who were so kind to share their tour with us through wine country.
