All Sunshine and happiness

Each resort we visit has a legendary skier and in Sunshine Village it is Trapper Terry. The 91-year-old Saskatchewan is not only still skiing, but he's a feisty fellow too, once getting into scrap with a parking attendant who must have been a fifth his age. Terry was already taking off his glasses and trademark cowboy hat, warning of his judo skills, when the attendant gave up and walked away. That is unusual though. Resorts like Sunshine have almost the saccharine feel of 1950s US commercials. It is par for the course to chat with anyone you meet on the chairlift and exchange stories. So it comes as a shock when I hear music booming out of a car. It is something I hear every ten minutes or so where I live in south-east London, but I realise that it is a sound I haven't heard in the 19 days since I've been away.
