A swim in the big pool, and then we drove back through Cody to Cody 'old town' on the outskirts of town, where a local historian has gathered together significant historical cabins from all over the western states to re-create the sense of the origianl Cody main street. It was an impressive museum, giving a real sense of what life was like in the set in the 1800's. The buildings included a saloon that Butch Cassidy used to drink in, s well as the cabin used by Butch Cassidy and the 'Hole in teh Wall' gang. On the outskirts of town, the grae stone of Buffalo Bill Cody, the founder of the town. Picnic lunch in the red sandstone canyon outside town, and then onto the road to Thermopolis and the start of the journey back to Albuquerque.

Thermopolis grew up around what are claimed to be the largest thermal springs in the world. The springs are now a State Park. We stayed in a campground (the Fountain of Youth) that had it'w own thermal pools. Wonderfup to relax in after a long drive. Pools at 98℉, 105℉ and 112℉. Will took a bit of pursauding to come into the coolest of the pools, but loved it once he was in. Particularly as there was a basket ball hopp at one end together with a salt-encrusted basketball. Thermopolis was a strange town. Hot and completely deserted (or almost completely) streets, yet the streets were huge - two four lane highways running through town with no traffic on them. It was as though the town had prepared an infrastructure for a boom that never came.
