Towards Umbria on the bus the roads got really pretty. There were hollyhocks all over the side of the road and cute little

towns and it sort of got it into my head that I was in Italy. Well, it actually doesn't feel like I ever left. It's a strange feeling. But when I finally got to Perugia I saw NO cabs around so I thought screw it, I know what direction Chloe's apartment is in. I

had to drag my suitcases for probably a mile uphill. But despite the physical pain I was in, I realized how beautiful Perugia was. On top of how it looks, with almost every building really old and pretty, when I got up one hill the most incredible smell hit me. It’s those yellow flowers all over Umbria that we drove past, I think called Ginestra, that are also at Phoenix Lake, and it’s intoxicating. But luckily Chloe’s roommates let me in, and I met her and went down to the botanical garden with her where her class had been taking place, and I think I’ll really like this town. Also a local woman asked me if I wanted un buon mano to carry my bag up some steps and it was very nice.
