Today was a full on travel day. We had a great sleep, and woke bout 9am. We organized our water, toilet (that’s fun for the whole family!) etc before heading off on the freeway towards Lille. Kev did really well driving on the other side of the road- very weird as Jules faces the traffic, but we’re both getting used to it. On our travels so far we have never seen so many trucks- that’s saying something considering where we’ve both grown up. This makes the drive a bit more intense to say the least. We stopped in Lille to grab a real French baguette for lunch. The language barrier makes it very difficult but a bit of a laugh at the same time (Kev tries very hard bless his heart- hopeless tho!). From there we headed into Belgium. There are no longer any checkpoints within all the European Union which makes for a smooth trip. We later had some arvo tea and tried our first Belgium chokky- YUM… it did not disappoint! Further driving took us to Luxembourg where we took a petrol stop as it’s the cheapest by far in all of Europe. Every country has a totally different set up- here we drove thru what looked like a toll gate with a chick to collect your money after you put petrol in. Bizarre!! Soon after we found ourselves in Germany where we enjoyed the drive as its much more free flowing with the autobahns. We cannot comprehend how quick they drive in their fancy cars. We were putting along in the slow lane (right hand side) and decided to stop at a rest stop for the night along with other trucks and campers. So in a nutshell, we’ve traveled through 4 different countries within the one day. Crazy isn’t it! Another big travel day tomorrow.
