Sorry for the late update, things have not all gone to plan and its been a bit tough to get reliable internet access at time that were convienient for us.

After our Great wall tour and not feeling up to the shopping on this tour, we decided to go it alone. And it worked out great! We were tired nd still a little sore from our bike ride so it was nice to take the walk on our own.

We caught a cab into the city and started our walk from there, after about another 3klm or so of crazy Beijing traffic we found the entry to Tiananmen Square and the beautiful gardens around it.

It was a litte crazy, there were way more tourists than i expected and beggers, thieves and streets sellers were harassing us at every turn. Tiananmen square was a bit of an anti-climax from what we saw, other than the history of the place, there was not much to been seen that we havent already seen in pictures or TV, it was more exciting just to be there and see these sights.

After heading inside the first gate at Tiananman square and into the gates of the Forbidden city we really started to appreciate how powerful Chinese emporers of the past must have been, very ruthless and powerful men.

This is quite a sight, we've all seen it on TV, but in real life, its quite majestic

The Forbidden City was enormous, 900 buildings in total and a large number of them filled with cultural relics of some description to be viewed, far too much for the few hours we were going to spend there.

But it was a lovely day and we leanrt many new things about the Chinese culture etc. For example, if your white and need a taxi, you're going to be ripped off by 90% of cab drivers, thats if they dont swish you away like a fly that is annoying them. Lisa has saved us a number of times for being totally ripped off, im still not quick enough to pick up on whats going on most of the time. haha

Although Beijing didnt go to plan and we are privelidged enough to see some incredible things that most people will only ever get to see on TV, we were definitly looking forward to getting out of Beijing and into Xian early in the morning. Big cities just dont seem to agree with us or our personalities, hahaha. Too soft maybe?...

Hi Pauly and Lisa! Have missed your blogs the last few days. Happy to see you enter something finally! You both look great in the photos. Is it weird that even I'm starting to miss you? I know I never see you but just having you out of the country has me wishing you were home and I could see you. Too sappy???? Anyway, me and Nick are good, no news really. Actually, Pauly, I have a graphic design job for you when you get home, need a logo designed if you're up to it. More on that when I'm talking to you. Mum and dad are good, I was talking to them just now and they said to say hello. They are still have computer problems, but can still read your blogs, they just can't post messages. Lisa, good to know someone has some travel smarts! Otherwise by the sound of it, you would both be broke by the time you got home! That's enough from me today. Enjoy your last few days, and try and cram in as much as you can, there will be plenty of time to sleep when you get home! Love you both, Janella xxx

Hi Kids, Congrats on finishing the ride we are all really proud of your acheivements. We don;t think anyone we know could have risen to this challenge. Well done Guys.... We miss you both but are loving the messages from China. I told you both the adventure would come with its own ups and downs. But really its something you will always remember even the bad bits. Even though the Great wall trip got a little stuffed up it sounds like it was an event not to be missed and as far as the shopping is concerned. That's what happen throughout Asain. You have to remember the basic wage is about 500rmb per month, so it is important the locals event as many ways t supplement their living as as possibly can. There is no dole, aged pession etc in China you do or you die. Can't wait to see you both we hope you are both feeling more rested now. The culture is something to be believed but things will get better and if they don't please don;t stress, just enjoy every moment and go with the flow. Love to both of you we look forward to having you home safely. MISS YOU
