Paysandú, Uruguay
From South American Honeymoon in Paysandu, Uruguay on Mar 06 '08
Well, we made it! Our fifth and final country of our honeymoon and what a beautiful country it is. This place is just fantastic. We crossed the border completely uneventfully; in fact, we didn´t even have to get off of our bus. Our taxi driver from the bus terminal to our hotel was such a nice guy. He gave us restaurant recommendations, carried Emily´s bags into the hotel and insisted on waiting till we were all setttled in. The operators of the hotel were even nicer than he was. They were so friendly and full of quesions about everything, from where we lived to our travels in Argentina. I feel like they would have just kept chatting forever. We had a great meal at a low-key resaurant but I think we ate a little earlier than most people our age. The restaurant was filled with 11-14 year old girls who were just as loud and excited as their counterparts in the US. Groups of teenage girls are just as scary here as anywhere else. We didn´t get too much time to explore the town because our bus for Colonia del Sacramento left early in the morning but we loved this place nonetheless. In hindsight we would have loved to have spent more than one night here. The people were the nicest we have yet come across and we couldn´t be happier to be in a new country, despite the tough time we had geting here. We´re looking forward to a little beach time in Colonia and will let you all know how it is when we arrive!
