Well our time was up in Sydney, and with hangovers and tears in our eyes me and Anjali said goodbye to the YHA and jumped on the greyhound bus to Melbourne. We laughed saying it could be no worse than buses in Thailand..but it was! The seats didn't even recline, we were very upset. 12 hours later we arrived ready to unload and have some food and a good glass of wine. Unfortunately i think Melbourne knew we were coming and promptly hide.
About an hour after arriving, we had lodged our bags in the BakPak hostel...("oh YHA why did we leave you, you had a rooftop swimming pool!") And managed to hunt out the one restaurant serving food past 9pm. This turned out to be La Porchetta, and we filled ourselves full of gorgeous pasta and salad and garlic bread and wine till we nearly had to be rolled out of the doors. We then headed back for our first early night in about a week! (it was only 1am!)
oh drinking and the sun

The next day we got up late and decided we had better do some food shopping, catching up on the internet and me change my flights around. For the next half of the day we had a wander around Melbourne and tried to get our bearings...and strangely enough it was harder than in Sydney.. On the night we, like usual, put the only decent clothes we had on, and went out in search of some fun and games. We found it in the form of (in no particular order) a NZ transexual, two gay guys whos's names have eluded me and a group of pro skaters! We partied at the fluid oz bar until we were thrown out at 3am, and then onto The Joint (as bad as it sounds) nightclub were me and Anjali strutted our stuff after a few too many vodka and oranges..after coming home at 7am, we werent expecting to see anything until midday and we were right! We crawled up and into our bikinis at about 1pm and after making a picnic jumped on the tram (only 30minutes) and found the lovely little place that is St. Kilda. It's like a little beach town, lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and of course a beach! It wasn't fantastic and no surf, but it was 36C so all we wanted to do was flop around and in the end it was even too hot for that. So we mooched around the shops, bought souvenirs and eat chocolate cake and icecream-best i'd had in ages.

On the night, Marcelo (surrogate big brother) called and said he had flown into melbourne on work and did we fancy a night out? Anjali was feeling rough from the night before so i got in a taxi to his hotel and after a few confusions arrived, picked him up and headed to see if St. Kilda was as fun at night as it was in the day. It was-and more, the bars was fantastic, lots of cool music, leather sofas and fancy cocktails. After getting some food, me and Marcelo just danced and chilled till about 2am, when i got a taxi back to my grungy little bunkbed whilst Marcelo relaxed at the Hilton...(can you tell i'm really jealous?!)

The next day we all met up and went for lunch down the little backstreets of Melbourne, and i had a lovely steak sandwich that i would kill for to eat again. After that we hit the shops and after boring everyone senseless with our "do you have it in pink" or "do you have it in this size" me and Anjali returned satisfied and headed back to our hostel to watch a movie, get some food and get dressed up. Kippy, my Melbournian friend, had promised us all a night out, which we went on...and then found a bit scary after some guy got his face smashed in with a glass! Marcelo had an early start so we called it an early night and headed back to the hostel
