Basseterre..Seen one cruise port seen them all....what makes this one different? Not much...maybe just a little grottier than most.

This destination has all the usual chain store duty free shops and hawkers lining the streets when a cruise ship comes to town.

Unfortunately we snagged a rope with the prop..so a few days longer here than we preferred. Locals are friendly people who appear to love their music very loud, with speakers facing the streets from shop and bar fronts.

They like to gather in the town centre on a Friday afternoon...the girls spending their pay checks and the men "liming". If it was a little cleaner and the buildings not so neglected this could be an enjoyable destination. Interestingly enough the town is plastered with "don't litter" warnings.

Streetscene (they call this area 'The Circus'..their version of Picadilly Circus) with the museum and a cruise ship in the background

What's here:  Warner Stadium...was host to some 2007 world cricket matches. It is the smallest nation in the world to ever host a world cup event.

Brimstone Fortress..Queen Elizabeth 11 inaugerated the fort as a national park during her visit in 1985...Unesco world heritage site.
