Classes

Sunday, Jan 7th was supposed to be a Sea Kayaking day but it had to be cancelled due to a storm sweeping around this part of the island. So myself and 3 brave souls decided no rain would dampen OUR fun, and we walked in the Hilo rain to the shopping plaza 2 miles away. Pretty sweet deal. Uncle Phil, if you read this, I bought 2 new pairs of shoes at payless and now my feet are the talk of the campus. really. So thanks for the giftcard!!! Back at the ranch/dorms, we all lay around the housing lounge watching movies, munching on snacks, talking and laughing, etc. A really solid bonding day.

Monday, Jan 8th (yest)= STEF'S FIRST DAY OF CLASSES!!! So my bus law class is going to be the bane of my existence and I'm scared. The professor's pretty monotonous, and the reading is short but VERY dense, and she grades entirely on exams. yikes! But my social work class seems mad cool. The students are really diverse so there will be a lot of new ideas shared, and the professor applies the social work terminology to real life examples, thus we can interact with the lessons rather than be subjected to them. I highly approve of her education pedagogy... seeing a good teacher always makes me miss my ed classes back at UMASS. Teaching really is an art...

Monday, Jan 8th (yest)= STEF'S FIRST DAY OF CLASSES!!!

Have I mentioned that my roomie moved in? Her name is Desiree. I'm a huge fan already, She's funny and easy to talk to, and thus far she's also a considerate person to live with.

Cool friends and roommate, classes off to a decent start, a nice room, fun weekend trips... all that's left is grabbing a job to ensure that I'm not in debt by the time I return to MA. I have 2 leads that look promising that I'm about to go hunt down... my goal is to be employed by Friday, Also, I'm going to try out for the play this semester, the Vagina Monologues... not a very traditional show, but it's a hysterical script and I think it'd be great to break out on stage again. Hopefully rehearsals don't clash with the weekend excursions around the island... if I have to choose, I'll pick travelling over acting.
