From Triunfo de la Cruz we had to take 2 buses to get to Copan, a beautiful little village paved in cobblestone with white adobe buildings with red-tile roofs. It is nestled in the foothills of western Honduras, just 7 miles from the Guatemala border.

For years, Copán has been renowned for its magnificent Maya Ruins, a designated World Heritage Site believed by archeologists to be the cultural center of the Maya world.

The Archeological Park of Copán is just half a mile east of town, situated amidst a tranquil forest along the Copán River.
