The Russians are coming, the russians are coming!

Today was the Russian Winter Festival at Trafalgar Square in London. Patrick and I decided to get up a bit early and see what it was all about. And, wow were there a lot of Russians in attendance. It was so busy you could hardly get through Trafalgar Square. It was a really good festival though. There was tons of entertainment. We saw a Russian Folk Dance troupe and a religious choir of some description. The food and drink were a definite highlight for some at the festival, but due to the long lines, we weren't able to partake. It sure smelled good though.
When Patrick went to work, I decided to walk around the National Portrait Gallery. It is a great gallery, lots to see. And then I went home to get ready for the ballet. I went to the season finale performance of The Nutcraker...carrying through on the Russian theme of the day. It was amazing. Alberta Ballet is nothing in comparison to the Royal Ballet. And the Royal Opera House is the most beautiful theater that I have ever been in. The glam and glitz of the theater is almost as good as the show on the stage.

Because we are trying to save money, I decided to go to the Royal Opera House the morning of the performance and see if they had any tickets left. And they did. On the morning of performances the Royal Opera House releases 67 tickets. The seat wasn't great but for 15 GBP it was worth every penny. I would recommend to any ballet or opera fan to do the same. It was so amazing to see one of the greatest ballets in the world, in one of the greatest theaters.
