For Thanksgiving we spent the weekend with a family friend of Petes in Verona, just outside of Venice. Ricci had moved from the states and is now living in Italy and was happy to house us on such an important holiday. Peter was thrilled, we where going to have a turkey dinner with Italians. It was great, we watched as Italians slurped up the mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and even a pumpkin pie! We added Italian wine in for good measure. We had such a great time, we where laughing all through dinner and hardly had a chance to feel to homesick. Thanks for that Ricci, you have no idea how much we needed a bit of home on such a great holiday.

We then made our way to Venice and another apartment we had rented. This time it was a little nicer with no mold and a warm feeling. It was in a neighborhood that was a little less touristy, I say a little less because Venice has so many tourists it hard to believe Italians live there at all, but we found them, they were at the coffee shop around the corner.

We walked, walked, walked a little farther, and then turned around and walked back to our apartment. The city is amazing! No cars, no trucks, no buses; you have no choice but to walk. We don't mind so much and just fell in love with all the canals and small bridges. I have to say I found my self cursing the canals when we could see where we wanted to go but with out a boat we where at a lost. "Stupid canals!". Yet, we never got lost, as many people say happens all the time, we just didn't know were we where on the map half the time. Though we could always find our way home. The city is one great labyrinth and it is very difficult to navigate. We really had a great time. After seeing so much of the world we could easily say that Venice is one on its own.
