Well I´ve made it to Logrono which also sees the first 100 Miles complete in the first week! (Actually 163Km for the folks back home)

By far the hottest day as it´s only 7pm but still 30 degrees. Few of us off to evening mass then dinner after. Walked about 29km today and did the first 20 before noon so treated myself to a well earned lunch break in the town before Logrono and was soon joined by the masses I passed en route. Funny thing was when I went to order in the cafe about 9km from the main city, Water Rats was on the TV! (Aussie police drama that finished about 7-8yrs ago for those that don´t know.) Was a bit weird seeing it there but funny hearing the Spanish voice dubbing!

By far the hottest day so far!

The refugio that we´re in tonight is the cheapest we´ve had so far at only €3/night! ($5AUS!) Signed in and went straight to the foot fountain the had in the courtyard. Very nice place in the middle of city that is so close, you could almost throw rocks on roof of cathedral from bathroom window! It would be highly rated even by YHA standards!

A bit of a hike tomorrow as I aim for Azofra but that will be weather dependant. Had a 9Km hike in the heat of the day with my Irish friend which wasn´t too bad but you try to minimise those occasions.

Now we get the good wine! I swear I haven´t worn this top since on the trip. Just the day I was in all the photos!

I aim to reach Burgos by Wednesday and if I can make Leon by next Sunday then I´ll know I can relax the pace a little.

A lot of websites have advertised this as being a comfortable 4-5 week walk but I think I´d be recommending at least 5 weeks for those that aren´t fast walkers.

I´ve been keeping a good pace according to the GPS with daily averages of 6kph and hovering around 7.2kph on flat road. After Burgos it´s flat for long periods with few interesting sights. I´m hoping to cover 40Km/day for some of those sections.

Nice houses we´d pass

A bit sad at the moment as a lot of us pelegrinos have been meeting up (by chance) every night or two but a few are leaving after Logrono and up until now, there´s been quite a logical pattern of which town to stop in next but not anymore, so those walking slower will probably not be keeping with us few that walk faster.

Until next time, please pray for rain cos I can walk happily in the rain but that sun...!
