Port St.Johns is a small, rural coastal town with an almost entirely black population. It's approached through what i call ,proper, tarzan swinging jungle.

There is a very laid back feel. For instance the guy running the internet cafe is usually to be found in the garden watering his veg and having a smoke. Cars are few and far between, reflecting the general level of poverty of the population.

Took a long hike with temp. buddy John along wide sandy beaches desserted except for a few cows. Came across a large group of kids playing in the shallow waters of the estuary. So hot I wish I could have joined them. That doesn't sound quite right but you know what I mean!

Next stop is Port Edward. On the way there was the most awesome lightening strikes. The whole sky was lit up a vivid pink.

Unfortunatly the bad weather continued  the next day without the light show. Eventually it cleared allowing me to hike the local ravine.

It was a really hot day and when i reached the waterfall, I couldn't help stripping off for a cool shower. Luckily , no one else appeared! A strenous climb up 240m was worth it for the views.
