From Leaving on a jet plane...don't know when I'll be back again... in Memphis, United States on Oct 16 '05
We
spent two nights in Memphis - what a COOL COOL place. First night we

had a pimps and hoes night so we all got fully tarted up and went down
historic Beale St to BB Kings to hear some blues then out to Karaoke
then to another bar (yes, more tequila). It is a mini New Orleans but
apparently a lot cleaner. Yesterday we were at GRACELANDS! What an amazing, awe-inspiring
place to be. It has such an amazing energy to it. I love it there.
Everyone should see it. Took soooo many pictures. Elvis had a
wonderful home. After that we went to see the spot where Martin Luther King was
assinated and met Jacqueline Smith. For those of you who've not heard
of her she has been campaigning for 17 years for the Lorraine Motel to
no longer be a civil rights museum and for the money spent to go into a
community centre which is what MLK would have wanted. Also saw Sun Studios which the music fans will know is such a
lengendary recording studio in American music history. So many artist
from Elvis, to U2 to BB King have recorded there. Went and hung out in Beale St againt o hear some blues. Love it.
Especially that you can drink in the streets here. Then we went out for
Thai and to Flying Saucers this wild beer joint. Beautiful weather
here too - just hot and balmy.
