In La Cote d'Or we mainly relaxed ourselves on the beach. You could enjoy swimming, as the sea was calm and warm. I had read before the place was great for families, and it was indeed. No dangerous fishes, no corals, just white sand and peaceful atmosphere. What was incredible to me being there, was that we had heard that the whole island of Praslin was fully booked (and it was, as we weren't able to hire a single car for the week we stayed there), but the beach was totally deserted! (sand flies problem? No I don't think so, just a few well paying, controlled tourists). If paying a lot for a holiday in the Seychelles is the price for keeping these paradises alive and for protecting them against the ordes of tourists, then I feel it is worth paying what it is needed. Anyway, we hired a bike and went to Anse Lazio but I warmly discourage anyone in following our steps, as roads in Praslin might be dangerous with private cars and autobuses driving fast along them, especially in the week-ends when the island is flooded also by local people coming from Mahé. Anse Lazio is a must...such a beautiful place. A pity it is always full of people. Another trip we did was to the beautiful Vallée de Mai to see the famous coco palm "Coco de Mer" which grows only here and in another Seychelles Island. The palms are magnificient indeed.
