London, Oxford and Nottingham were all neat. Very different experience in England this time with friends as opposed to family. I'll keep this short as I am typing this weeks after my trip:

Highlights

"This is the voice of God"

  • The single bed room hotel in London that felt like the size of my closet. Still managing to comfortably watch Grey's Anatomy with Nadia in this room.
  • STOMP! The performance arts show Nadia took me to. Extremely neat experience...They really did have creative ways to stomp their feet and innovative instruments to make music.. BUT damn it was long.
  • The useless guards putting on a horse show for tourists for absolutely free every hour or so
  • 3 pounds to see top Comedians as a test audience of just 25 people (Extremely, extremely fun)
  • Yates: A seemingly ok lounge-like place that is apparantly "dirty, cheap and sketchy" according to British people when you tell them you went there! (Are they just being snobby?)
  • Oxford University Libararies: RIGHT out of a frickin MOVIE! A small wooden libary that really creaks as you walk about... You walk in and see large rectangular desks that could seemingly fit 4 people, but here... this desk is for 1. It is filled with loose leafs floating on and off the desk with intensely complex mathematical equations written all over them (just 1-2 a page)... The desk is also equipped with 7 bottles of water and 3 half-empty cups of coffee. These finalists as they call them ARE INTENSE!!
  • Wagga Mama's: The best Japanese food I have everrrrrrrrrr eaten. Eaten in Nottingham with Nadia and Iliyas!
  • The Cellar: A really cool underground trance/house/hip hop club in the heart of Oxford. Incredible atmosphere, music and people. There is a lot of personality in there. I cannot even explain it.
  • The London Subway System: Attempting to use the elevator to go down... the elevator wasn't working for us. Another guy got into the elevator and managed to make it move up. Looking confused as ever, we continued pushing buttons and waiting for the elevator to magically take us down when a voice suddenly appeared from the wall behind me.. "Excuse me lady in the pink... yes you.. lady in the pink... You must go up first blah blah blah blah... get down to the Picadilly line." Started giggling....."You have a right to laugh bc this is the voice of God... I am everywhere!"  We continued to giggle but hadn't understood his muffled directions..we did understand what we were doing wasn't working so we went all the way down the actual stairs with our luggage (slighly struggling).. when an announcement came over the entire subway station.. "Just so you know, you need to take the elevator up to get to the other elevator across the station that will take you downstairs to the Piccidilly Line (I think that's what it was)." Too late, we still thought.. Then as we were walking along the downstairs hallway another voice came out of a complllllllllllllletely random wall. "Hey you... yeah you.. I'm talking to you...".. I said, "yeah..??" He's like, "I TOLDDDD YOU to.........blah blah blah.." Again we started laughing.. we're like you're really keeping an eye on us but we're almost there don't worrry! He says, suit yourself. but I am everywhere huh? Every video camera we saw after that we smiled and waved. How I love the London Subway People.

Words of Wisdom

  1. If you're living in England you better have a damn well-paying job.
  2. The "hot" accent is more temporary than I had imagined.
