There were some interesting sites along the way…the first was something refered to as a wind farm…how can you have farms for wind I ask myself? However there appeared to be acres of windmill type structures which I understand are called Turbines.
We have two in a town near us in Swaffham in England. This looked rather pathetic in comparison to the Spanish ones. There were literally hundreds all over the hillside on both sides of the road. M & D commented that it reminded them of Palm Springsin California USA which apparently is a town where lots of wealthy Americans live and this helps towards towards their power usage. Must be the same here…one of those would be an experience to leave my calling card on….but no stopping allowed! What a shame.
D went off birdwatching muttering something about looking for great bustards...sounds a bit rude to me !

Other things I noticed was the Spanish way of putting large bull’s on the horizon. I must say the sighting of the first one was a bit of a shock for me. It seemed much bigger than those back home and I was a bit fearful I might have to encounter one….it was soon explained to me that it was a silhouettes.. whatever that is and not something I should concern myself with.
Anyway D seemed to be in much better spirits today and I think we all were hoping that whatever the outcome of today’s travelling we hoped that our next stop at Finca Santa Marta, Trujillo, Extramadura was going to prove to be a good stop over choice as we were staying there for 2 days.

M & D had been to the area before and had stayed at both the Parador and the Sol melia hotels in the actual town. However neither accepted dogs so we were using this location as an alternative because they did welcome 4 legged friends.
We arrived just after noon. A lovely lady greeted us and showed us to our accommodation. The property is an old Olive Farm and the buildings were just wonderful. Our room was in a separate accommodation block created from old buildings. It was great and M & D were absolutely thrilled to find it was clean, comfortable and great relief…airconditioned…nothing to with the fact I am sure that M had booked it!

There is a swimming pool that guests can use and the Finca will organise evening meals on request.
We loved it here and we could take nice walks through the olive groves or rest with M under the shade of the olive trees whilst she swam in the swimming pool when D went off birdwatching muttering something about looking for great bustards...sounds a bit rude to me !
