We´ve spent the past 4 days travelling along the banks of the Rhine in Germany and loved every minute of it. We´ve visited castles and ruined forts, travelled up chairlfts and cable cars over the most amazing scenery. There are hillsides covered in vineyards, gorgeous little villages nestled in valleys and huge statues with the most amazing detail. The first 2 nights we stayed in a little cabin in a forest overlooking a riverside town. It was lush and green all around us (and frogs after the rain which we both can´t stand!) On our first night we caught up with Lauren´s friend Narelle, her husband David and their little 7 month old girl Charlotte. They kindly cooked us a BBQ tea with German beer and strudel after our long day of driving. We spent the following days exploring little towns and villages. Lauren found her German xmas decoration on a christmas shop in Rudensheim, a blue glittery nutcracker. After the cabin we drove north west along the river to Koblenz where we are now, camping in a site on the river bank where the mosel joins the rhine. Last night was our first night camping in our tent. It is very small and last night really hot. Our air mattress deflated and we woke up on the ground with rocks under us but still slept well! Today we´ve exlored more castles and went on a tour of the Marksburg but unfortunetly it was in German although we did have a basic translation. Coming home we stopped at a local brewery and had a drink in the beer garden. Tonight we´ll cross the mosel into Koblenz and have a wander around to find dinner. We triend our first Bratwurst today for lunch so are feeling adventurous for us!
