Monaco
From Europe! in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Jun 16 '07
After spending the day in Nice we quickly went back to the campsite so that we could change into nicer clothes for Monaco! It is the second smallest country in the world, and one of the most expensive. In costs a person a person at least 1 million Euros just to get citizenship in this country!
The only way I can describe it is that it is the land of bling. The bay surrounding Monaco looks like a parking lot for yachts, and we saw a few Ferraris while we were there. The valet parking lot is filled with Mercedes, BMWs, and other expensive cars I don't recognize. I actually got excited with I saw a lowly Toyota Yaris sitting among them :) It was all very intimidating because even the Royal Casino was built by the guy who designed the Paris Opera house (the one in Phantom of the Opera). I couldn't leave without making my mark, so I went in and used the bathroom.
We went to the "cheaper" Sun Casino next door where I proceeded to lose 5 Euros in roulette in a period of 10 minutes. After that it got kind of boring because there's really nothing to do in Monaco when you have no money. If I ever make a million dollars I'll make sure to come back one day and really experience what its like living like Monaconians (?) do.
