Well tired, stiff, achey and oh yeah tired!! we arrived in Brisbane about 7am wednesday morning. The flights had been ok, pretty empty so bit of room to stretch out but still not the same as a good sleep!! Tried taking some Nytol from singapore to brisbane, i think getting pissed would have put me to sleep better, they were shite!! Anyhow watched a few films and some classic episodes of the Office and before i knew it we were skidding across the runway true ozzie style into brisbane!! We got through customs surprisingly easily even farmer Tom didnt get any hassle which i thought he might for his yokel ways!! Now bearing in mind it was 7am by the time we got through to arrivals and its verging on winter here, we stepped outside to look for a taxi and it was hotter than england in the height of summer!! In the cab now on the way to John and Penny's (friends of alf's dads who were happy to have all 6 of us stay with them) house in the suburb of Sunnybank we got a runny commentry of all the stationary traffic going the other way from the cabbie. Brisbane is very much like california, palms, wide roads and just that relaxed laid back feeling as if no one is in a hurry, i knew then that i was gonna love this country!!

Much better?

We arrived at this house after about half an hour in the cab, unloaded and dumped our stuff in the out house where we would be staying and had to head off for the as these people were at work (how inconsiderate!!). Was a good thing tho as staying up all day apparently helps u get over jet lag quicker!! So we got what every hungary traveller needs.... a Subway and the Subway club dripping in ranch dressing has never tasted so good!! With the subway settling in the gut we did the off into brisbane on the bus, cheap, quick and easy. We got off at a stop called Southbank and wandered sround the southbank parklands which had an awesome man made beach and lagoon for swimming etc and without the dangers of Sharks, crocs etc!! We then caught the boat across the river to the city centre and went straight into a living nightmare..... shopping with alf!! As any1 who has experienced this would know its enough to drive anyone to drink.... Which funilly enough is what happened. around 12.30pm we were all in need of our first Aussie drink, now this is quite complicated procedure, u can have a pot (1/2pint) schooner (3/4 pint) or an actual pint. Then there are so many different types, varieties and strengths of beer by the time u have decided u may have died from dehydration. Anyhow we struggled through and were drinking when michelle decided she need to sleep, so onto the floor she went and promptly fell asleep. 1/2 later the barmaid said we'd have to wake her up risk getting thrown out.... on holiday with vagrents!! We then met up with Adam and Rachel, alf and micheles friends from work who were on holiday there as well. They then took us to another pub called the regatta where we discovered rum and coke on tap!! on tap!! amazing and then the weirdest thing of all, one way glass in the guys toilets so u can see out but no one can see in, crazy!! We then headed home via the boat and bus and had a true aussie BBQ courtesy of John, with Kangaroo sausages!! In the words of borat, Very Nice!!

that relaxed laid back feeling as if no one is in a hurry, i knew then that i was gonna love this country!!
