The Ile De Brehat is near the town of Paimpol at the start of the Cote de Granite Rose. It is a short ferry ride across to the island and fairly cheap – so long as you don’t want to take your bikes, which was 15 Euros!

The Ile de Brehat is effectively two islands joined by a very small bridge. No vehicles are allowed and it is a pleasant place to wander around. There are a surprising number of houses on the island and the gardens and flowers are very pretty.

The islands together are fairly large and bikes really would be ideal – of course there are plenty of bike hire places on the island hence the extortionate price for taking your own.

Parking for the ferry is free and we stayed overnight along with many other camping cars. As you park right on the beach the view out to the islands at sunset is pretty impressive.

Dave.

Hi Claire, Glad you like the blog. Yes we have a laptop and generally connect wirelessly (WIFI) on campsites. Where this is not available we use internet cafes. My experience so far is that Spanish campsites are good for WIFI, France is average, UK is bad. We are using a GPS (TomTom ONE Europe) and it is generally excellent - but in Cornwall UK it likes to take us down roads narrower than our truck... We use diesel (approx 90c in Spain, 100c in France, 95p in UK). I think petrol is within 10% of these prices. Feel free to send anymore questions. Dave.

Hello, I'm really enjoying your blog. Thanks for identifying the names of the good campgrounds. I have a couple of questions. Did you bring a laptop and if so, do you take it to internet cafes or how are you getting connected? Do any of the campgrounds have accessibility? Do you use a GPS? What's the price of gas or are you using diesel? Claire
