I was up before sunrise this morning to catch the sun coming up over the White Desert.  It was lovely and worth the early rise.  Once everyone else had risen we had breakfast of boiled eggs, Jam, soft cheese and rolls.  We spent the first couple of hours wondering though the White Desert enjoying its beauty and taking photo's.  We continued on to the sound of more Arab Pop to Farafra Oasis  stopping along  the way at a natural hot spring on the side of the road.  The hot spring wasn't quite what I expected because it was in what looked like a concrete  animal water trough and thus wasn't appealing.  On reaching Farafra township we visited Badr's Museum which is the creation of a self taught artist.  The museum resembles a qasr (mud fortress) with rustic sculptures and carvings of camels and other animals on the walls.  We spent about an hour exploring his wonderful creations and gave him LE5 for the privilege.

We continued through the desert and went off road for a while to have some fun 4WDriving  across the sand.  We stopped for a short while to grab some photo's of the vast sea of sand that surrounded us.  It was then onto Dakkla Oasis where we were going to spend our second night in the Bedouin camp.  The camp itself look like something off a Star Wars set it was fascinating.  We all had little huts to sleep in, each having two single beds,  the beds were a little short as Vaughan found out !  It was nice to have a actual bed to sleep in even though they were as hard as the desert ! it was also nice to have toilets and hot showers although the water pressure left alot to be desired!. In the evening we enjoyed the hospitality of the Bedouins and enjoyed a nice healthy meal of Kofta, salad, mixed vegetables, pasta and of course are all time favorite - Pitta Bread !! followed by music and dance around a campfire.
