There were several things that we did in Iowa just about the house. We took walks around the farm, did the laundry (which is really fun to hang on the line with frisky puppies around), slaughtered bunnies (bunny salad!), and had shooting practice. I've never slaughtered or eaten bunnies before, but they are pretty tasty. Kinda like chewy chicken, and they definitely need salt. Liesl made bunny stew one day, and living in Iowa, she had about 10 different vegetables in it. I think I got my quota of veggies for the year at that meal. Along with all the corn we ate. It was corn season! Woohoo! We had corn for dinner the first night. Just corn. We ran out of time to cook anything else before we had to leave. Bunny salad sandwiches are also awesome. It's just like chicken salad, except with bunny instead of chicken. You put the sandwich in the oven with some cheese on top and yummy!
Shooting practice was interesting. I'd never even held a gun before, and we went outside around 9 at night to practice. We got glow sticks to use as targets. I don't know that I ever hit a glow stick, but we're positive I was hitting the leaves in the trees behind the target.
