After catching our 00:30am bus to La Quica we arrived 7 hours later on the Argentina / Bolivian border. It was absolutely freezing! All the Bolivianos on the bus were wrapped in shawls and blankets. We're wearing our boardies and flippies hehe. That was soon changed with the hoodie and runners going on. We walked the 10 or so blocks to customs and where thru with no problems.

The train to Tupiza runs every second day (Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat) which was recommended as the way to travel. It being a Tuesday we had to catch the bus which was crowded but fine. I slept most of the way :o) which took about 2-3 hours. We were really unsure about where to book our Salt Plains tour from. We had read on notice boards in hostels to do it from Tupiza but then it's cheaper to do it (by quite a bit) from Uyuni. We've booked it from Tupiza and I think its the best choice. Over the 4 day trip from Tupiza you get a full day more of things to see & do and avoid the return trip back to Uyuni. As we're travelling up Bolivia to La Paz, finishing in Uyuni is a better location to travel onto to our next destination.

Arrived in Bolivia and booked our Salt Plains tour..

Tupiza is a nice little town. We didn't do much here apart from check out a few restaurants, get some money (cash advance is possible with Visa from one place), and there's a good internet cafe. Tomorrow, we're doing the Salt Plains which we're really looking forward to.
