I need to apologize for not writing as much as I have wanted. Classes and travels have picked up which is wonderful but makes time go by way to fast. It amazes me that in a week I will be half way through with my time here! That makes me so disappointed but excited for what is to come.

This past weekend, it was Amanda’s birthday, my roommate and a group of us went to Punta del Este, Uruguay! It was so fantastic and one of the best and ritziest beaches in South America, and that was no lie. We had such a great time on the boat from Buenos Aires to Colonia, Uruguay. Then we took a boat to Punta. When we arrived we saw this fantastic city that was extremely clean and the best part was a huge hand was coming from the sand on the beach. We ran to our hostel, which was a blast, and ran to the beach. Being able to get away from the city was so fantastic and exactly what I needed! We were able to soak up the rays, swim, play with jellyfish and eat AMAZING FOOD. Friday night we went to dinner on the beach and the restaurant had music playing. They band sang “happy birthday” to Amanda and the restaurant became ours! It was such a blast and we all stuffed our faces until we honestly could not eat anymore. I shared a seafood dish and garlic shrimp with two friends.

On Saturday was Amanda’s birthday and we rented a boat for the day. The boat took us to an island of the coast that had thousands of seals. We went around the island and watched all of the seals while lying out. It was fantastic and a real treat to be able to see all of these mammals in their natural habit. Two girls got sick and it reminded me of the boat ride with the girls in Mexico. One great part of Punta del Este is that there are so many animals and it was a wonderful fishing town.

The beach was fantastic but on the boat back our friend Kelly got a call from his mom. She said that his grandma has only 2 days left. It was such a heartbreaking moment because it really made me worry about what I would do if something ever happened back in the United States. Ah, I do not want to even think about it! I just wanted to wish you all the best of health and be EXTRA careful PLEASE!

Food has continued to be fantastic at my house. The other night we had the best fish I have ever had, sorry dad! Grandpa cooked a white fish with tasty spices and tomato sauce. It makes my mouth water even thinking about it!

I promise that I will write more often as long as people email me about what is going on with their lives.

Hey Little Lucy!! I am so glad you got some pictures up! And I can see you are definitely doing a good job of soaking up the sun! I think you girls could go to a dump yard and manage to have fun! In another week you and Leah will have your families all together - I can't wait, and I bet you can't either! Take care and keep writing! Mama Val
