(sorry it seems to ba a big long waffly update cos a) we haven´t done it for a couple of days and b) we have three hours to kill before the bus leaves for Chichen Itza)

Friday was our last full day in Cancun so we headed straight for the beach - as that was what we´d booked time in cancun for!

after yesterdays trek we decided to take the bus the whole way and were on our own little bit of paradise by 9:30 am!

we actually managed a whole 30 mins of fending off the beach drinks vendors until one pro turned up with a football and that was it ..... dunc had another amigo! and it was only a matter of time until we had a beer in our hand!!! 10:30am and there we were with a yard of ale each!!

Of course we´d left the camera back at the hostel!!!! so of vic popped to buy a disposable so hopefully we have a couple of pics of the beach and us being brits abroad with our luminous orange yards of ale!

By lunch time we´d had enough of "paradise" and besides the sand was running out of places to hide :( so wandered through the horribly commercial part of town in search of food - which we could have cooked from raw on Dunc´s feet!!! they are SO badly burnt!!

grabbed a quick mexican lunch and headed back to downtown to try and sort something out for Dunc´s feet! tried very hard to get him to succumb to the virtues of flip flops or sandals but he´s not having any of it - seems to be trying to resist the whole "travel" thing first he arrives wth no back pack and now he won´t buy any flip flops!!

in the evening we wandered out for food and two for one beers and cocktails and it started to feel like proper holiday!!!

then next morning up and off on the bus to Tulum! 54 pesos each (about 2 pounds 50 for a 2 and a half hour journey!) arrived at the hostel around 2ish which was too late to go to the ruins so just grabbed a lift back in to town to pick up the journal (which we´d left in an internet cafe) and had lunch in a proper "locals" cafe place - quite scary for 15mins while we waited to see what we´d ordered cos the entire menu was in spanish - Dunc spent the whole time praying it wouldn´t be fish! and then finaly he gave in and we went to buy Dunc some "sandals" which he´s wearing with socks!!!! It´s a great look!!!! His feet are still red and seem to be getting more swollen - we´ve christened him RFP the second!

Saturday was one of the people staying at the hostels birthday so there was a big barbie going off so stopped off at a local supermarket for meat etc, and ended up walking all the way back to the hostel! Poor RFP 2!!

Barbie was good but ran out of beers too quickly - probably a good thing cos they were all still at it at 4am and we were up at 8 to go to the ruins!

Very cool ruins and the most perfect beach down some steps from the ruins (only way to get to it) glad we got there so early though as on the way back there were hoards of people going down towards the ruins which would have taken the edge off. Also we remebered to take the camera with us (HURRAH!) but it was so sunny that you couldn´t actually see anything through the viewer. got a couple of decent pics though and as we have a bit of time to kill will attempt to upload some (mum you´re not the only techno donut!!!)

so anyway that´s about it, just waiting for the bus to Chicken Pizza - hopefully we´ll be staying on there a couple of days so that Dunc can rest his feet and I can work on my tan!!!

Tulum´s great, much more laid back than Cancun - kind of wish that we were staying longer but we already have accom booked in Chichen Itza - and hopefully there´s a pool there, although don´t know if there´s much going on around Chiche Iza - may have to venture to a nearby town for stuff to do... probably Valladolid, but at the moment we´re both just looking forward to chilling out for a couple of days and then seeing the ruins at Chichen Itza!
