Kyra:
So here we were, our last morning in St Tropez... Market day!! We took off to brave the hordes and enjoyed walking through the stands of produce, meat, clothing, antiques - you name it and they were selling it. Rick was very patient as I searched for the perfect skirt, (I did find a great one, thanks to his patience!) He was thrilled with his find: a striped jersey perfect for the sailor he has become - of course it's been too hot for him to model it around town - but the time will come!
the sunset was the entertainment and the waves rocked us to sleep

After the market, we made our way to the harbour to watch the beginning of the wooden sailboat race - before the start of the race, the boats were tacking back and forth in the bay. We enjoyed them in all their splendor, under the St Tropez sun...
Soon after, we left on the Eidos with much less fanfare, but in a noticeably festive mood - we were off to new horizons! St Tropez left our wallets a little lighter and we chose an unpretentious little bay to moor for the night - happy to be away from the hordes of tourists. The sunset was the entertainment and the waves rocked us to sleep.

The next morning, Barbara set sail as we were still cocooned in our berth - it was after all - 6 a.m.! I joined her on deck - and enjoyed some one-on-one coaching as we tacked and chatted. Rick took the opportunity to sleep in and read sailing adventures. The wind, of course, was once again on the nose but we managed to sail anyway - then it picked up to 20 knots - which, for me anyhow, was pretty exciting! The waves were rocking us about and peeing in the head, (that's the washroom on a boat), was a rather risky proposition! We also had the opportunity for an unplanned man-overboard-drill! Rick's poor hat flew off as he was busy tacking! After futile attempts at stopping it in its tracks it ended up floating all alone in the waves - captain Barbara took this chance to teach us how to man the boat in an emergency rescue - we are happy to say that man and hat were reunited after the excitement!
When we neared Juan-les-Pins, we decided to anchor in the bay for the night. This time, Rick got to enjoy lowering the anchor - and once we settled in, we enjoyed swimming and suntanning and our yummy cheap French wine with Rick's delicious pasta dish.
The next day, we were headed for Antibes - only a short journey around the cape...
