London Clubbing
From Sightseeing in 2007 in London, United Kingdom on Jan 19 '07
I have finally had my first London club experience. Last weekend we went to a club called Crazy Larry's in Fulham. It was fun, but it was just like all the clubs that I have ever been to in Calgary. With the exception of almost all of the guys in the place wearing suits, and a cover of 20 GBP. But, overall this was a club like most others, so I am not counting it as a "true London club".
Anyway, so last night we went to a place called Aquarium. It was 70's night, and we were told to go in costume. So, we threw some really daggy 70's outfits together and went. When we walked in, we were certainly surprised by the fact that everyone there had put a lot of time, effort and money into their outfits. Some of them were fantastic - they looked like they had just come off of a movie set. The club has three different bars - a lounge, a small bar (not sure what it was, but the music was awful) and the main bar. Our flatmate, Michelle, came with us and she and I spent most of our time in the main bar, but on one of our walkabouts we spotted small windows in the small bar. We decided it was worth further investigation and we discovered that the club has a swimming pool - hence the name Aquarium. Now it might just be me, but it doesn't seem like the smartest thing in the world is to have a swimming pool where people are encouraged to comsume copious amonts of alcohol.
Last night was an awfully cold evening to go home in wet skivvys!
Michelle and I were so entertained by all the commotion in the pool and gone from the rest of our party for such a long time, Patrick had to come and find us. The pool was the funniest part of the night. People would stip down to their underwear and just jump right in. Last night was an awfully cold evening to go home in wet skivvys!
For my first London bar experience it was all pretty cool. I can't wait to go to the rollerskating bar, now that I have seen a swimming pool bar.
