I arrived via train to Bratislava on what has been one of my most smooth travel days. I did not get lost, flustered, or even mad. I wish every travel day was like this...but then I perhaps would get bored and purposely get on the wrong train or bus just to give myself a new challenge.

My hostel is great - central, free internet, washing, linen, and it's quiet. I'm in heaven perhaps? Today I'm off to explore Bratislava and check out the city's big castle and perhaps score some hockey tickets to a game for a big tournament that is taking place in the city for the next few days.

My trip is already half over!!!

I met up with Thea, a Canadian I met in Prague. And, we checked out the fabulous sights from Bratislava's castle (please see photos!). And, then took in some European hockey at Bratislava's arena. Actually, the Loto Cup was taking place (4 Countries have 3 days of round robin action: Slovakia, Switzerland, Latvia, and Austria). We saw 2 games for the wicked price of $8 Canadian. I love how cheap hockey is over here. The first game was pretty quiet as there was no home fans, but Slovakia played in the second game and the crowd picked up. The arena was FREEZING! As it NO heating. Yes, even the Josephburg arena in Alberta was probably warmer. Other than freezing our butts off we had fun drinking mulled wine and waving the Slovakian flags they handed out. That night we checked out the Christmas markets and drank yummy hot chocolate (think liquid chocolate, a.k.a. heaven on earth!). Lots of local vendors selling sausage and local trinkets. The square was packed and filled with locals, as apparently Bratislava is not a big tourist city - didn't stop me!

Plans are changing though as we speak...not to sure what trouble I'll get up to in the next few days. But, I have an inkling it will be busy and fun! Woohoo!
