Kyaking & Night out in Victoria

Got out the house just after 9 and Dan drove us and Elissa to downtown Victoria in his red beast ('86 Audi coupe') complete with a banging sound system! We dropped Elissa off at work and then went to Dans work where he had very kindly arranged for us all to go kyaking. We got our gear together and got into the kyaks at the rear of the store where it backs onto Victoria's inner harbour. We paddled up the inner harbour under the Johnstone St Bridge as Dan explained about the area around us on either bank. There was a gentle current which was against us and we had to be aware of the harbour boat taxis which go up and down the inner harbour. There were large herons patrolling the shores and we even saw a wild baby seal which appeared quite close to Dan & Andy where it just looked at them before dissapearing back under the water. We ventured as far as we could until we reached a very narrow bridge which created a waterfall and fast paced water current with whirlpools as the water from the ocean is forced through the small gap. We all took it in turns to paddle up the side of the fast flowing water and then into it where it forced us quickly back down the inner harbour. Not content with doing this twice, Andy went for a third time but got to close to a small whirlpool and over stretched to paddle away and got flipped out, much to everyones amusement! When everyone had stopped laughing and taking pictures of Andy bobbing in the water, Dan helped him get back into his kyak and to get the water out of the cock pit. We all paddled back to Dans work, cleaned the kyaks and Dan bought some new shorts for Andy (he wouldnt let us pay) so he could be dry! We then grabbed lunch at the noodle box where we had lovely teryaki chicken noodles. We walked around Victoria abit before driving back to Myrnas via Tim Hortons for muffins/doughnuts! After showering/changing we packed up our bags and drove to the Swans hotel in Victoria where we met John and checked in. Here we met up with Alana, Josh and Ben and then walked to Earls restaurant where we were joined by Elissa, Kristel, Jason and Kelsey. After dinner Alana, Josh and Ben went back to the hotel whilst the rest of us went to the Irish Times pub where the guys drank 5 pitchers of beer and the ladies sipped wine as we listened to the live celtic band. Johns decided to go back to the hotel so the rest of us went to a strip joint where we drank some more and had a great laugh at Dan and Elissa who decided to shout out the English vulgar terms we had taught them for womens bits!! We were both in tears of laughter! Kristel, Jason and Kelsey decided to go home so we went with Dan and Elissa to the jungle room night club where we drank even more and danced before all stumbling back to the hotel where Dan and Elissa had to share one single bed and we shared the other (saved Dan and Elissa having to get an expensive cab home)! We all said what a great night we had, it was such fun.
