Langkawi

An express boat from Panang got us to the beautiful island of Langkawi further north in Malaysia. This place is a popular honeymoon spot with lots of expensive resorts dotted along the coast.

We stayed in a great place right on the beach for a fraction of the price, and got to lounge on the ideallic beaches for 3 days, pure heaven! Outside of the resorts the island is still very underdeveloped but there is alot of construction going on, almost all of the roads have open man-holes and work-men on them. We reckon in ten years time it will be a very different place. The food here was similar to penang, we ate with the locals, very cheap and tasty authentic Indian and Malaysian food.

We met a few people while staying here too, one couple had met each other while living in swords nine years ago, a spanish guy and german girl who had worked in Hertz, small world.

The sunsets over Langkawi were absolutely beautiful, with a perfect climate of warm sunny days, cooler nights and no humidity. We contemplated spending the last 7 weeks of our trip here...but finally came to reason and started a long journey up to Bangkok...
