I made it!  My crazy day of traveling is over.

This morning I started in Livingston, Guatemala and now I am in La Ceiba, Honduras.  Tomorrow morning at 9:30am I take a ferry out to Utila, the Bay Island, where I will be at least until next Saturday.  Good thing - I'm getting a little tired of moving around - this is my third place in 3 nights.

My crazy day of traveling is over!

Traveling today was not as bad as I thought it would be.  A boat from Livingston to Puerto Barrios, a taxi from Puerto Barrios across the border to Corinto, a bus to Puerto Cortez, another bus from Puerto Cortez to San Pedro Sula, another bus from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba, and then a taxi to my hotel.  The biggest problem was trying to figure out how to cross the border and change money - glad that is over with.  And trying to figure out where to get on and off all of the various busses.  Now I am working with Lempiras, rather than Quetzales, and it's about 2-1 lempiras for quetzales, so at first it seems like everything here is very expensive - but it's not.

Not much to report- Livingston was interesting - but I was so tired last night I didn't get to enjoy it too much.  Livingston is the town right where the Rio Dulce meets the ocean - and where the Guatemala Garifuna people live - therefore it has a much more Caribbean feel than the rest of Guatemala.

Thinking I am NOT going to study Spanish this week and am just going to enjoy the beach, the pool, snorkeling, etc.  We will see.  More from Utila.

Beck-- Enjoy your time of beaching and snorkeling... sounds like a great last week to your trip. I made it to Northampton! No trial-size shampoo beetles or frogs the size of puppies, but lots of students to meet and lots of reading. Wish I could do the reading w/ a Corona by the pool... ah. Oh well. :) take care, Saralyn
