forth to Darkest Peru.....

Lima, well, having been back and forth to Buenos Aires to meet up with Nick again we finally arrived in Lima totally knackered. I`ve been told Lima is dangerous, Lima is polluted, Lima is cold and grey in winter....all correct, though we managed to avoid getting mugged at knife point twice, unlike a guy we had met in the last hostel!

Because it`s winter there Lima is constantly grey and covered by a mist which never lifts except in the summer. It`s probably much nicer when the sun comes out, but generally this city doesn`t do it for us. Miraflores is ok, we watched some paragliders from the parque del amor, (which is full of couples snogging under the watchful eye of the local police) and there`s some nice architecture, but as a place to visit...no.

Didn`t really know what to do with our one day here so we headed to the Inca Gold Museum, which turned out to be an amazing private collection of Inca and other civilistions jewellery, gold, artifacts etc etc, including some really grotesque mummies... Disturbingly the museum also housed the largest collection of arms memorabilia I have ever seen...guns guns and more guns...

We had a flight to Iquitos in the middle of the night, and because of all our flights being at funny times we have jet lag again! Anyway, the visit to Lima was short if not sweet.
